I want to plant a little corner garden, about 3×4 ft, in my backyard. I am thinking of getting one of those roll out flower seed mats and some flowering plants intermingled. Is it too late in the season for this?
I am in the southeast part of the us, tn/ky area, and it is right around 70/80 usual temp right now.

I started all my vegetables inside in smaller pots and then transplanted them to my garden. I have corn, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers. No other plants are having a problem yet except the corn. The corn plants are between 3″ and 6″. I water on a regular basis but am wondering if I need to add some nutrients or if there is too much of something that is burning up the corn. Thanks!
I will clarify my question and state that the corn leaves are turning yellow.

The tomatoes had fruit already on it when I planted them and now the fruit has been ruined by some animal (thinking a bird) How can I protect them from further damage. I am on a strict budget so if any one has any ideas with things around the house that would be great. I live in an area I dont have to worry about deer just small animals. Please help.
Do you think the stuff you make wedding veils out of would work to cover the plants? Thank you all for the advice I am going to leave this up a little longer to see if I get more advice.

I always water my garden around 5 in the afternoon. It’s summer time and soils are really dry that they crack. How much water should I leave? I have red palms, palm tree, cactus and others.. I only stop watering when I see initial flooding.. since soil absorbs them, within minutes it’s all gone. But is it enough to last them the next day? Does the planting matter, like if the roots were planted really deep so they need more watering for the liquid to reach them?
